I am Nanaimo's only Certified Rolfer™. I graduated from The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado in June of 2015. I am also a certified yoga instructor - a great combination for understanding how bodies move and function.
I graduated from UVic with a B.Comm and worked for the government for 5 years but found that it wasn't fulfilling enough working with paper: I wanted to work with people. I have always been interested in alternative therapies and helping people, and so I decided to pursue something in that field. But what? I contemplated several options (naturopathy, nutritionist, chiropractor...) and finally found what I was looking for.
I first was introduced to Rolfing® Structural Integration (SI) when a Rolfer successfully treated my grandmother's lockjaw - a problem that conventional medicine said needed surgery to fix! My own Rolfing experience happened after bunion surgery: my toe was going numb, tingling, and turning purple whenever I would walk, run, or ride a bike. I had tried everything, but nothing seemed to help. Three sessions of Rolfing and the issue was gone for good; and I had found my calling.
I understand how debilitating an injury or surgery can be, and am thrilled to be able to help people on their journeys of healing and wellness.
